  • What are the rules for electronic service?

  • How does a capacitor work?

    Capacitors have two terminals, like resistors, but are used for storing potential energy as electrical charge. In radio electronics, I designed capacitors to block direct current and allow alternating current to pass through the device in order to tune to specific frequencies.

  • How does a trigger work?

    An inductor works by resisting the change in electric current passing through it. It stores energy in a magnetic field as current passes through it. As with my work with passive components, many of the designs I create for electronic circuit boards in computer devices require inductors.

  • Why would a silicon diode be preferable to a germanium diode?

    Because silicon is more widely available for producing electronics and because of its higher heat resistance, it is more suitable for many applications.

  • What terminals make up field effect transistors?

    FETs use drain, source and gate terminals to control the voltage input and are unipolar devices that rely on majority charge carriers for directing electrical current. These terminals make it possible for me to reduce nonlinearity and limit distortion to automatically bias FET devices like phase shifters.
